The Research Councils of Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and UK have agreed to support an initiative to promote collaboration in social science understanding of the new ICTs. The initiative looks specifically at ICTs and questions of information, organisation, power and democracy. The aim is to explore the basis for research collaboration between the 5 countries involved, perhaps with a view to taking forward proposals for future EU funding. This is being done by bringing together 4 or 5 senior researchers from each of the 5 countries, in two meetings:
