Dr Jon Agar

| Jon Agar (Social Contexts of Virtual Manchester) is a lecturer at the Centre for History of
Science, Technology and Medicine, and Associate Director
of the National Archive for the History of Computing,
University of Manchester. His early research interests
were in spatiality and the history of recent science,
and has published Making Space for Science: Territorial Themes in the Shaping of Knowledge
(edited, with Crosbie Smith, Macmillan, 1998) and Science and
Spectacle: the Work of Jodrell Bank in Post-war British
Culture (Harwood Academic Press, 1998). He has also
published on the history of defence research. Current research
interests include informatic history of cities, and
a history of information technologies and governance. Jon Agar is Programme Secretary of the British Society for the History of Science, and is a list-owner of the science studies distribution list, mersenne. |
