Roger Burrows (Virtual Community Care? An Analysis of the Experience of Computer Mediated Social Support) is Assistant Director of the Centre for Housing Policy at the University Of York. A sociologist and a statistician by background, he has published extensively on issues relating to: housing; health; work and employment; and technology. His most recent books are the co-edited Cyberspace/Cyberbodies/Cyberpunk (Sage, 1996) and Homelessness and Social Policy (Routledge, 1997).

In addition to his work on virtual community care for the Virtual Society? programme he is also currently working on two ESRC projects (one on young people and housing and another on lay perceptions of equity in relation to health care) and a project for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation examining the health and social consequences of mortgage repossessions for parents and children.
