Eleanor Burt (Re-Shaping the Voluntary and Community Sectors in the Information Age) was Research Fellow with the Centre for the Study of Telematics and Governance (CSTAG), Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), and Principal Researcher on the Virtual Society? research project. Prior to joining CSTAG in October 1997, she spent three years as Research Fellow with the Voluntary Sector Research Unit at GCU. She holds a PhD and BA (Hons) First Class from Strathclyde Business School, together with the Association of Management Education Scotland (AMETS) Certificate in Research Methods from Glasgow University. She has expertise in project management, large scale survey research, and case study research. Her disciplinary background in Organisation Theory provides the platform for developing expertise in electronic democracy and governance. Her research interests include both the extent to which Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) re-shape or reinforce governance relationships between the voluntary sector, civil society, and the state, and the concept and development of 'virtual parliaments'.
