Tracy Ibbotson (A Ethnographic Study of the Diffusion Process of Telemedicine in Scotland) is a senior lecturer in the Department of Nursing & Midwifery Studies at the University of Glasgow. Over the past twelve years she has conducted social science research in a wide variety of health service settings: oncology, radiology, general practice, surgery, and general medicine. This research has a strong interdisciplinary emphasis, with a large input from colleagues in related fields; such as Medicine, Nursing, Health Economics and Sociology. The main aim of her work has been to investigate the organisation of the NHS and the behaviour of health professionals.

She has been grantholder on several successful health service applications to the ESRC, the NHS R&D Executive, and the Scottish Office Chief Scientist Office, and published in Medical, Nursing and Health Services journals.
