Tim Watts (Virtual Reality and the Innovation Potential of the Organisation) is a Research Associate at Manchester Business School. He graduated in 1990 with a degree in physics and then undertook a Masters degree in 'Technical Change and Industrial Strategy' organised jointly by the department of Science and Technology Policy and PREST (Policy Research into Engineering Science and Technology) at the University of Manchester. Following the completion of his studies he joined Manchester Business School where he has pursued his central interest in technology and innovation management. His early research examined product technologies and innovation performance in high-tech firms. This led him to become involved in an ESRC study to explore business strategy in defence orientated high technology companies. In 1996 he began work on a DTI funded project to examine the business benefits of virtual reality (VR) technologies, and he has since pursued a keen interest in assessing the business benefits of all forms of visualisation technology. Tim is an associate member of the UK VR Forum and a member of the UK's VR Special Interest Group.
