Margaret Reid (An Ethnographic Study of the Diffusion Process of Telemedicine in Scotland)
is a reader in the Department of Public Health, Glasgow
University. She graduated from Aberdeen University with a degree in
sociology, spent her postgraduate years as a ESRC student in the Centre for
Educational Research, Edinburgh University before taking up a lectureship
at Glasgow. She has been a Visiting Fellow at the Women's Studies Centre,
University of Madison, Wisconsin. Her work has incorporated both qualitative and quantitative approaches; her research interests are mostly around the topic of women's health (maternity care, women and heart disease) with a number of projects run as EU Concerted Action projects. For the last ten years she has been interested in 'the new genetics' and has researched the diffusion of prenatal screening technologies across the EU. She currently leads projects in projects funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food,and the Scottish Office. |
